Mediterranean fare has come to the Midtown Miami neighborhood, courtesy of new eatery Skorpios (at 3252 NE 1st Avenue). Named after the private island owned by the late Greek shipping billionaire Aristotle Onassis, Skorpios is the brainchild of the former founder of The Opium Group, Eric Milon.

Helming the kitchen is executive chef Erhan Ozkaya, who has run the kitchen at Mandolin and Wynwood Diner prior to arriving at Skorpios. On the menu guests can expect a selection of hot and cold mezzes like baba ghanoush, tzatziki, octapothi Skorpios, and Greek fish croquettes. Main dishes include a selection of large range of daily catches grilled hold, along with flat breads, salads, baked casseroles, and shish kababs. The restaurant also features a full bar with daily happy hour specials.

The 4,900-square-foot space – which used to house Italian eatery, Bocce – features indoor and outdoor seating with Greek themed décor, terracotta and mosaic tiles on the floor and walls, as well as a 13-foot Hammerhead shark mounted on the wall.

Skorpios is now open for lunch and dinner seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. with brunch will be served on Saturday’s and Sunday’s starting at 11 a.m. For reservations or more information call 786-329-5905.
