Chef Brian Nasajon, best known for his cuisine at popular Wynwood spot Beaker & Gray, has broken ground in the former gigi space in Midtown Miami (3470 North Miami Avenue), which shuttered in last year.

The new restaurant, Mason, will be a modern take on the classic American diner. It promises to have “house-made everything” — from bagels and breads to smoked deli meats and condiments. The menu will roughly feature “75 percent classic diner dishes,” according to Nasajon, like piled-high sandwiches, burgers, salads, while the other parts of the menu will feature less traditional diner fare like oxtail pot pie. There will also be a to-go option where meats and desserts also sold by the pound.

The 100-seat space, will include plenty of booths and charging stations, counter-seating, and an outdoor patio. However, unlike Beaker and Gray, this restaurant will only serve beer and wine.

Mason will feature an all-day menu with service beginning at 10 a.m. until the wee hours of the morning (aka 2 a.m.) daily with an anticipated opening scheduled for the end of March. Stay tuned for more updates.
